I,my wife and young son have visited Luxor three times in the last five years. We have never felt threatened nor intimidated.Quite the opposite. The people of Luxor are the most peaceful and respectful of all the countries we have ever visited. We have been welcomed into the homes of even the poorest people who live on the westbank. There is no political or religious undercurrent aimed at foreign visitors and we are in no danger at all. This region relies on the income made from tourism and it has been very noticable that they are really struggling at the moment because of the rapid decline in tourism. This has been largely caused by scaremongering in the press and in my experience totally unfounded.I will continue to holiday in Luxor with my family and thoroughly recommend others to do likewise. There are mny jewels on the Nile and the people of Luxor both East and Westbank are the most precious.

The US State Department has been advising against all by essential travel to Egypt for several days now, since the US citizen was killed in Cairo protests.
