Egypt's archaeological sites and museums closed indefinitely - Ancient Egypt - Heritage - Ahram Online

Ibrahim Soliman confirms that this includes Luxor sites but he very much hopes to reopen as soon as possible.  Saddest day for me, the first time Luxor sites have closed since I moved here.

This is sad but not surprising given what happened in Cairo museum last time. Given the current chaos in Egypt I fear nobody will want to be there.

The majority of people go to see the famous sites and now they are closed no one will come.

The danger is looting may very well begin out of necessity. If the people have no business, no food and families to feed things may get even worse.

The images taken in Luxor yesterday which you can find on Luxor Times are very alarming.

Its going to be a long time getting back to ant kind of normality and now that they have chased the Muslin Brotherhood underground this will for sure cause more problems and uncertainty in the future.
