AFP: French Egyptologist who saved Nubian temples dies

Christiane Desroches-Noblecourt, has died, what a sadness for Egyptology. The very very first book on Egyptology I read aged 9 was her book on Tutankamun. I am very grateful for her contribution to the world of Egyptology and to my personal interest. AFP: French Egyptologist who saved Nubian temples dies: "- Sent using Google Toolbar"

  2. When I was 11 years old I saved my allowence for months to buy her book about Tutankhamen. I still have it. She contributed greatly to my interest in Egypt.

  3. I'm sure that the first book on Egypt or Tut that I ever bought (instead of checking out at the library) was the Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibition catalog I got here in Los Angeles in 1978. But soon thereafter I bought Christiane Desroches Noblecourt's book on Tut. I still remember the effect it had on me. When I learned of her death I pulled it off the shelf and thumbed through it. I plan on rereading it when I have the time.
