Although this is a sad story it also tells you of what the governor is trying to to and well done him!

  1. Hi Jane, its a good article and I know the people in Luxor are finding it difficult at the moment, as I am sure you are. I will be back in March, all booked, but with the Worlds media today again reporting the bombings in Cairo and surrounding suburbs this does nothing to help the present situation - which is very sad as Luxor appears to be very peaceful.

I have been to Luxor and Aswan many times and I know how things really are, but a lot of people will be put off by this constant reporting of trouble in Egypt and unfortunately places like Luxor suffer because of this.

I don't have the answer, I doubt anyone really does, but it will be a very long time before things get back to any kind of normality in Luxor. All the regular visitors can do is to return and try to support their friends.

Luxor seems to be at least trying to attract tourists, but I fear it will be a long time before Luxor returns to any kind of normality with regards to previous numbers of tourists.

Having said that it is probably the best time to visit as you will have the place virtually to yourselves. The fabulous sites are still virtually empty as are the hotels as confirmed to me today by a local agent.

So what are you waiting on - in my opinion, it could not be a better time to offer your support.
