Luxor bomb: Should tourists still visit Egypt? - Telegraph

Luxor bomb: Should tourists still visit Egypt? - Telegraph: “After a bomb is always the best time to visit Egypt. Atrocities mean less tourists, tighter security, and lower chance of a follow-up.”

It’s a cynical remark, but perhaps it reflects something about the British attitude to travel and danger. Today’s suicide bomb at the Karnak site near Luxor will no doubt put off some people – but they would probably not have gone anyway.

Hi Jane. As I am due to visit Luxor again in December I checked with Thomsons today and was informed that all flight up to the end of October have been cancelled. Fingers crossed for December. Very annoying really as the Government have not advised toy to travel to Luxor.

Kind regards,

Barbara

Hi Jane, our flight has also been cancelled for next week 24/06/15 , as has our friends for the following week. Thomson has cancelled its summer season to Luxor for 2015.

The email from Thomson does state that Luxor is safe and they are not reacting to any safety concerns raised by the government. They state that there is a lack of demand for flights and holidays to Luxor so reluctantly have cancelled the season.
We have visited every year since 2004 an we now have a gang of 20+ that stay at the Maritim each year. Our holiday buddies go to extreme lengths to get to Luxor in recent years and easy to get a flight to Hurghada with travel provided in less than 4 hours to Luxor. Egyptair are our last bastion of hope for direct flights.
Your empire of appartments looks amazing and I can see us spending some time with you once we hit retirement.
Good luck keeping your business bouyant during the downturn.

I want to thank you all for your support. The people of Egypt are deeply grateful for these kind of messages.

I had 4 sets of guests travelling by Thomsons, they got the news yesterday and are now trying to decide what to do. So thanks Thomsons for killing my business.
